Assistant Collections Manager

Melbourne Full-time Collections

About the role

Help manage our day-to-day collections, ensuring timely recovery of outstanding receivables while keeping a professional, customer-focused approach. This is an on-site Melbourne role with a competitive salary and incentive structure.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of accounts and oversee day-to-day collections activity
  • Monitor delinquency and drive timely recovery of outstanding receivables
  • Negotiate and structure fair payment arrangements with customers
  • Escalate complex cases and recommend the right next steps
  • Maintain a professional, customer-focused approach at every touchpoint

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills and a confident, empathetic phone manner
  • Strong computer proficiency and comfort working across systems
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Available to work on-site in Melbourne
  • Tertiary qualifications or experience in business, finance, or law are viewed favourably but are not a prerequisite

Join our engineering team to build the internal systems that power our lending platform — from loan origination to investor distributions.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain our payment ledger and reconciliation systems
  • Extend Django portals for investors and brokers
  • Integrate with payment providers, CRMs, and accounting systems
  • Write tests and maintain code quality
  • Work with ops and finance to understand requirements

Requirements

  • 4-7 years Python experience with strong Django skills
  • PostgreSQL experience (transactions, query optimisation)
  • Exposure to financial or payment systems
  • Good testing habits and clear communication
  • Bonus: dbt, FastAPI, or webhook/event-driven architectures
